Yakult as A Probiotic

One bottle of Yakult contains of 6.5 billion cells of good bacteria. These bacteria had been discovered by Dr Shirota and this very genius scientist named the bacteria as Lactobacillus casei Shirota. These bacteria have scientifically proven to reach our gut alive. By the way, I’m not promoting Yakult. I would like to discuss about good and bad bacteria in our intestines. 
 

Our intestinal tract is also known as microbes’ home. It consists of one hundred trillion of different types of microbe. Why not in stomach? Most of bad microbes prefer to live in alkaline or natural environment. While in stomach, the acidic level is very high that may kill those bad microbes. More and more productions of bad bacteria will increase the ammonia and changes intestinal tract pH to be more alkaline. This condition can harm intestine and cause gastrointestinal upset. Therefore, it should be stop by increasing the number of good bacteria. Stress, excessive alcohol use, high fat diet, high intake of meat and sugar, genetic disorders, chloride and fluoride in drinking water, antibiotics, inadequate food and exposure to high toxin environment could change the balance of intestinal flora.

There are many good bacteria (probiotics) ; Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Streptococcus, Pediococcus and etc. Different bacteria might provide different mechanism of actions. Lactobacillus is very common good bacteria because it can be found naturally in milk. There are many benefits of good bacteria. They decrease the steps of digestions, from complicated to simpler structure, for absorption. They also help to build immune system to be ready for pathogens. Besides, their actions in colon help in digesting some form of fiber. Probiotics also are proven to treat and prevent diarrhea due to the side effects of antibiotics. Probiotics may inhibit the action of Helicobacter pylori. Thus, it slows down the incidence of peptic ulcer, gastritis and gastric cancer. 

Good bacteria are very important as to reduce the toxins produced by bad bacteria in our intestines. Probiotics can be found in many types of food, fermented food, milk and milk products. Nowadays, there are many products surely provide the benefits to our intestines. Take it at anytime but if the products are in liquid form, do not make it as a thirst-quencher.

The good bacteria inhabiting the colon play an important role when it comes to combating pathogens that enter the body.

In the absence of these beneficial bacteria, harmful microorganisms will start to grow and multiply. Needless to say, this growth will have a profound negative impact on health.
