Protein is the major
component of body tissues. It is the essential nutrient for growth. Protein is
made up of 20 amino acids and has three-dimensional structure. Protein is important
in making antibodies, enzymes, hormones, muscles and protein transporters. Examples
of food that contain all essential amino acids are meat, poultry, eggs and most
of dairy products. Nuts and legumes are high sources of plant protein.
